Matthew S. Pezda, M.D.
Vitreoretinal Disease Specialist
Dr. Matthew Pezda specializes in a variety of medical and surgical conditions of the retina and vitreous including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment repair, endophthalmitis, uveitic and retinal vascular diseases.
Dr. Pezda earned his medical degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. After completing an internship at Sinai Grace Hospital and his residency in ophthalmology at Kresge Eye Institute, both in Detroit, Dr. Pezda completed a two year vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at St. Michael's Hospital at the University of Toronto.
Throughout his medical training, Dr. Pezda has had a keen interest in ophthalmologic research. He has taken part in numerous research studies at several institutions including Bascom Palmer Eye Institute of the University of Miami, Kresge Eye Institute of Wayne State University, Kellogg Eye Center of the University of Michigan, and St. Michael's Hospital of the University of Toronto. His endeavors have ranged from basic science research involving the study of electrical potential and transport mechanisms across the retinal pigment epithelium to surgical trials involving the intraoperative administration of intravitreal steroids after epiretinal membrane peeling.
Dr. Pezda is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retina Specialists, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and the Florida Medical Association. He is glad to offer his knowledge and experience to our patients at the Jupiter and Lake Worth offices.
