THE REZOOM LENS IS HERE!!!

SEE NEAR, FAR AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN.

How does age affect a person's vision?

Beginning around the age of 40, the natural lens inside the eye begins to harden and loose its flexibility. As a result, the eye's ability to change its focus from near to intermediate to distance and back again reduces. This result is known as "loss of accommodation" or "presbyopia". The earliest symptom of Presbyopia is difficulty seeing things up close.

As the natural eye continues to deteriorate, it starts to become brown or cloudy. As a result, a person's vision becomes blurry and colors lose their sharpness. Frequently changing someone's glasses prescriptions can help, but left untreated, cataracts can lead to blindness.

Am I a candidate for the ReZoom TM Multifocal Lens?

If you've been diagnosed with cataracts and are experiencing one or more of the symptoms shown below, you may be candidate for the ReZoom TM Multifocal Lens. Your doctor will make a recommendation following a complete eye exam.

  • Difficulty reading
  • Difficulty seeing close objects
  • Difficulty seeing to drive, especially at night
  • Changing glasses prescriptions
  • Need bifocals

Is the ReZoom TM Multifocal Lens procedure safe?

Every surgical procedure has risks and potential side effects. Your doctor will explain all of these in full detail. However, the lens removal and lens implant technique used in the ReZoom TM Multifocal Lens procedure is performed over 14 million times per year worldwide and is recognized for its safety and predictability.

How long does the ReZoom Implant Procedure take and what occurs during that time?

The ReZoom Implant Procedure normally takes about 15 to 45 minutes. This procedure involves making a tiny incision on the edge of the cornea and gently breaking up and removing the natural lens. After the natural lens is removed, the ReZoom TM Multifocal IOL is folded and inserted through the small incision. After the ReZoom lens takes place of the natural lens, the incision is closed and remains sealed due to the outward pressure inside the eye.

Does this lens affect how a person sees across a range of distances and light conditions?

No. The ReZoom TM Multifocal Lens is designed with advanced optical zones. The zones provide a good vision across a range of distances and light conditions. This optical system is called Balanced View Optics. Balanced View Optics TM technology allows a person to see near, far and in between in both bright light and low light conditions.

How does the eye react to the treatment and how soon can I resume my normal activities?

Most people can resume their normal activities the next day. Everyone heals at a different rate, but in most cases, vision is improved within 24 hours. Vision improves as the eye heals and becomes used to using the multifocal lens.

A visual side effect that a patient may experience is halos or a glare around lights especially at night. For most people, this side effect is most noticeable during the first few months and goes away over time. Although these side effects are noticeable, they do not hurt your ability to function visually at night.

Although you may prefer to use glasses for prolonged reading, to read small type, or to drive at night, most people say that they can go through the day without depending on glasses. The benefit of having the ReZoom TM Multifocal IOL lens implant will be even more noticeable when both eyes have been treated.

Is the ReZoom TM Multifocal Lens the only option when having a cataract procedure?

No. There are different types of specialty lens implant technologies to meet each patient's individual needs.

The right lens for your lifestyle.

  • ReZoom TM Multifocal Lens... is designed for people with generally healthy eyes who want good vision near, far and in between without depending on glasses in most situations.
  • TECNIS TM Monofocal Lens... is designed to provide safer, sharper vision than conventional lens implants. It is a good option for people who want sharp distance and night vision and don't mind depending on glasses for near vision.
  • Conventional, Single-Vision Lens... there are a range of proven, conventional, single-vision lens implants that provide improved vision after cataract surgery. Most people receiving a conventional lens implant require glasses either for near vision, distance vision or both after surgery.

Q. How is your vision now with the ReZoom TM Multifocal Lens?

A. Now I can see clear as a bell. I can read without contacts, without glasses, I can see far, near and in between. I can see the ball land on the fairway and lying on the green. I can read stories to my 17 grandchildren and do the things that are very important and dear to me that I was denied. It's just changed my entire life.

Q. Can you describe your experience with the ReZoom TM Multifocal Lens procedure?

A. When I had the operation, I was obviously a bit scared. And this is where I can help people not to be scared. I didn't feel anything and it gave me such joy.

Q. How soon did you play in a golf tournament after having your ReZoom TM Multifocal Lens procedure?

A. I played in the Masters Tournament this year one week after my ReZoom TM procedure in my left eye - one week! I was one of the only two players to birdie the 1st hole. That was so encouraging to go into a major tournament like the Masters just having had the operation. At age 70, I shot a 79 and beat a lot of guys.

Q. Did you have any side effects?

A. After my ReZoom TM procedure the only side effect I had was oncoming cars - there was a halo around their lights, or a streetlight - whatever light that was there. And everyday that halo just diminished and got less and less...It's only two months since I had my left eye done and it's just better every single day. The brain makes the adjustment and every day I see better.

Q. What advice would you give to someone with cataracts?

A. Take it from me, there's almost no reason to let cataracts slow you down or keep you from doing the things you love. If cataracts are affecting your lifestyle, you owe it to yourself to ask your doctor if the ReZoom TM Multifocal Lens might be right for you.
